The story of Bishop Springs Farm begins in the early 1900s, shortly after the Great Depression.
Rex Hallock, a visionary farmer, purchased several small family farms that had succumbed to the harsh economic times.
Nestled between the Illinois River bluffs, Rex transformed these lands into a thriving farm.
He built essential buildings, dug miles of field drainage by hand, planted and harvested crops, and constructed a home for his growing family.
Through his hard work and dedication, Rex created a farm that would sustain his descendants for generations.
NO legacy is so rich as farmland planted for another generationÂ
Rex’s son, Alan Hallock, inherited his father’s passion for farming.
He continued to cultivate the land until his retirement from traditional agriculture.
However, retirement for Alan meant a new beginning.
He immersed himself in the world of lavender farming, applying the methods and science he had learned over the 30 years in crop farming.
Alan’s dedication to lavender farming has not only continued the family legacy but will has created opportunities for future generations of the Hallock family and will bring the joy of fresh lavender to generations of yours.
